Highway 99 Blues Club is proud to present: The 8th Annual Hayride to Hell!! A New Year’s Eve party with two Northwest bands comprised of all-star veterans of the Seattle music scene.

VIP tickets are already sold out!! Get your General Admission tickets early before they sell out, too! Every ticket holder will receive a free admission pass to any Highway 99 Blues Club show through March 2014.

Walking Papers is a blues-rock band formed by Jeff Angell and Barrett Martin, two long-serving stars of the Seattle music scene. Jeff previously sang and played guitar for the bands Post Stardom Depression and The Missionary Position. Barrett, a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, played for grunge pioneers Skin Yard and The Screaming Trees, as well as the super groups Mad Season and Tuatara. The band added Duff McKagan, of Guns N’ Roses, on bass in 2012. Benjamin Anderson brought his keyboard talents from the studio to the live stage, evolving the band into a quartet. Pearl Jam and Mad Season guitarist Mike McCready recorded on their debut album and has been known to make guest appearances on stage as the lead guitar player.
“Angell’s vocals have a bit of a grimy blues growl to them which helps give the band a bit of a distinct style compared to other bluesy guitar bands and when he lets loose with guitar solos he makes you pay attention.”
- Guerilla

Supporting the Walking Papers will be another local favorite, Mark Pickerel & His Praying Hands. Founding member and drummer of The Screaming Trees, Pickerel has played on albums with Northwest bands including Nirvana, The Dark Fantastic, Brandi Carlile and Neko Case. With his band The Praying Hands, he has stepped out from behind the drum kit and has established the next chapter in his musical life within the Americana genre.
"Pickerel has a reassuring, deadpan voice (arguably the missing link between M. Ward and Nick Cave)."
—Portland Mercury

Duff McKagan’s daughter, Grace McKagan, will be making a special appearance with her band The Pink Slips. Grace and bandmate Jamie Brooks, put a dark and beautifully melodic twist on punk with so much talent it’s hard to imagine that they’re only 16! Surprise “Blue Band of the Night” will be holding down Highway 99’s roots, and special guest, DJ Self-Administered Beatdown (aka, Triple Door Talent Buyer Scott Giampino) will be spinning soul and funk music throughout the night to keep the dance floor hot.
