5 Reasons Beaujolais Nouveau is Taking Over in Seattle

Beaujolais_Nouveau_wine

Beaujolais Nouveau is the latest event being uncorked in Seattle. Here are 5 reasons why it’s become so popular with the bourgeoisie.

1. It’s called ‘The New Vintage’. And which Seattlite doesn’t love a good paradox?
“I’m sensing a strong, fruit body with a smooth, oxymoronic finish.”

2. It’s touted as a wine for the anti-connoisseur.
The idea for this young, red wine was originally conceived of as a way to offload large quantities of wine, quickly, and for a decent profit. Feel free to drink it with donuts from Top-Pot.

Donuts plus Baeujolais Nouveaus equals class.

3. It’s meant to be drunk young.
Think of this wine as more like freshly-caught grapes.

4. It’s a rabble-rauser.
The same wind produced in the sleepy vineyards shown below sparks parties and barrel-rolling races at 12:01am on November 20th of every year.

5. It’s here.

No need to fly to France to take part in the festivities. There are Beaujolais Nouveau events happening here in Seattle too. Check them out.

THIS WEEKEND

COMING SOON

STEPANIE ANNE JOHNSON & WHITNEY MONGÉ

Fresh off this season of The Voice, Stephanie Anne Johnson is a Voice Top 20 award-winning indie blues singer/songwriter. Guided by a killer musical instinct, her rich, melodic soundscapes surround her audience and inspire her listeners into a depth of emotional possibility.

Singer-songwriter, Whitney Mongé began her journey busking in the Pike Place Market. Her raspy, sultry vocals are highly reminiscent of Melissa Etheridge and Tracy Chapman. Now, Mongé is fresh off her West Coast tour and plans to release her single “Gracefully”, along with a music video, in the spring of 2014.

See their show.

There are five times as many Americans with at least some Irish ancestry than there are people living in Ireland. This translates (roughly) to five times as much St. Patrick’s Day fervor. Join the celebration with this week’s events and more at hurryout.com.
