Every 1st Friday of every month Jan 4 - Dec 27, 2013 @ 7pm - 10pm.
Freshest Roots "Expresso" is held the FIRST FRIDAY of every month at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center in Seattle. Please come share your writing, poetry, art, comedy, music, and love. If you don't have anything to share, come anyway! Support your local talent and have some fun!

January's edition of "Expresso" will be a little bit different than the typical monthly events. We will showcase 4 of the fan favorite artists from the past year, and there will be NO online sign-ups. Doors open and sign-ups will begin at 7pm. First come, first served.

January's showcase will include special performances from:

Laura Wright:

"I am a poet, a dancer, and my own revolution. I am my own voice seeking to create art from my corner of this world. I seek to live a life more outspoken than my words. I wouldn’t exist without community and the common pursuit of justice and self expression. I have lived, loved, and worked in South Seattle as a tutor/mentor/basketball coach at Rainier Beach High School for 3 years, a place and people that feel like home. I first came to experience the fullness of hip-hop and community through the Cornerstone Open Mic at the Faire Gallery for 5 years. I believe in the power of young people and the power of art. Most significant artistic/historic inspirations: Assata Shakur, J Dilla, Phonte/Foreign Exchange."
